Bracing & Compression Therapy in Cranbrook, BC

Bracing & Compression

Injury recovery, pain relief, and day-to-day comfort all depend on the right support — and bracing and compression therapy can provide just that.

At Kootenay Therapy Center, we offer custom bracing solutions and medical-grade compression garments tailored to your body and your goals.

Whether you’re returning to sport, healing after surgery, managing a chronic condition, or simply trying to move through your day with more ease, our team is here to help you find the fit that supports your healing.

What Is Bracing & Compression Therapy?

Bracing and compression are two effective, non-invasive ways to improve physical function, reduce pain, and prevent further injury.

Bracing

We provide custom-fit and off-the-shelf braces for a range of joints, including knees, ankles, wrists, shoulders, thumbs, and the back. Braces can:

  • Stabilize injured joints

  • Reduce pain and inflammation

  • Offset pressure and improve movement mechanics

  • Support recovery after surgery or injury

  • Help you return safely to work, play, or daily activities

Compression

Compression garments work by applying gentle pressure to limbs, improving circulation and reducing swelling. They can help:

  • Manage varicose veins or lymphedema

  • Prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

  • Improve energy and comfort for active lifestyles

  • Support pregnant clients or post-operative healing

We offer MEDI certified compression garments, carefully fitted to your needs and preferences.

Healing That Respects Your Whole Self

We understand that no two people are the same and no injury, illness, or challenge shows up in exactly the same way. That’s why we approach each treatment with curiosity, collaboration, and care.

Your goals guide us.

Your experience matters.

And your whole-body health — physical, mental, and emotional — is always at the center of what we do.

Custom Knee Bracing

For more complex needs, custom knee braces offer exceptional support for:

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Ligament instability (ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL)

  • Meniscus injuries

  • Patellofemoral pain

  • Post-surgical rehabilitation

  • Jumper’s knee and other chronic conditions

We carry advanced options from Osskin and Enovis (formerly DonJoy) — two of the leading brace manufacturers in the world.

What to Expect

Your journey starts with a complimentary consultation — no referral required.

  1. Initial Appointment

You’ll meet with our bracing and compression specialist, who will assess your condition, gather your history, and examine your movement.

  2. Custom Fitting & Quote

If a custom brace is the right fit, we’ll take precise measurements, determine your hardware needs, and provide a quote. (We take a 50% down payment on brace orders.)

  3. Final Fitting

Once your brace arrives, we’ll book a second complimentary session to ensure the fit is perfect and your questions are answered.

  4. Insurance Support

Many insurance plans cover custom bracing — though some require a physician or NP referral. We’ll help you navigate the paperwork and provide supporting documents.

  5. Ongoing Support

We’ll follow up to make sure your brace is working for you, and can help integrate it into a full rehab plan with physiotherapy, exercise therapy, or other services.
