About Ryan

Ryan is a physiotherapist and co-owner of Kootenay Therapy Center, as well as Creekside Physiotherapy in Kimberley, BC. He completed his Master of Science in Psychology at the University of Lethbridge before going on to earn his Master of Physical Therapy from McMaster University in 2003.

His master’s thesis examined how attention and anxiety affect balance, sparking his lifelong interest in vestibular and concussion rehabilitation. Ryan has been a leading member of the Shift Concussion Management Group since 2015, began teaching nationally with their clinical team in 2016, and was their first Level 2-trained therapist in Western Canada.

Clinical Focus & Approach

Ryan specializes in Concussion Treatment and Vestibular / Dizziness Rehabilitation, integrating evidence-based assessment tools and a collaborative care approach. He uses standardized, research-supported methods to help patients recover from concussions and balance disorders, always aiming for a full and confident return to activity.

His background in pain management, disability management, and Physiotherapy allows him to provide comprehensive care for complex conditions. He has completed advanced training through Pain BC, the NOI Group, and the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP), and obtained a Certificate in Vestibular Rehabilitation from Emory University in Atlanta in 2017.

Ryan also collaborates with research teams at York University and UBC and currently serves as Chair of the Rural and Remote Committee of the Physiotherapy Association of BC.

Ryan enjoys running, paddling, and skiing with his wife Joanna and their daughter Ruby, taking full advantage of the active Kootenay lifestyle.
